Get a Sparkling Smile with Veneers in Irvine
If you are not satisfied with the appearance of your teeth and smile and want to make them look as spectacular as possible, then veneers may be right for you.
Schedule an appointment with Dr. Ursula Levine and discuss how you can achieve your desired smile. Dental veneers are made of porcelain and are pleasantly thin, in that they do not add thickness to the tooth. They are also aesthetically indistinguishable from natural tooth material, yet extremely resilient. They are custom-made to fit over the visible surface of the tooth and are designed to enhance your appearance.
What dental problems can veneers correct?
The main reasons people opt for veneers are to correct bonding restorations, or that have been chipped. Also, patients with minor misalignments of the teeth who do not wish to have orthodontic treatment can have the problem corrected with veneers. Finally, in may cases, teeth that are miscolored or stained may be improved or corrected with veneers.
Veneers are bonded onto the front surfaces of teeth and remedy problems with the color, size, and shape of the teeth to create a uniform and appealing appearance.
What can I expect during our first appointment?
During your initial consultation with Dr. Levine, she will examine your teeth, address your questions and concerns, and possibly have x-rays of your teeth taken to help determine if veneers are the correct cosmetic dental procedure for you. Once you are given all the information you need, you take time at home to make an informed decision as to whether veneers are right for you.
How do I get started with veneers?
Once you make the decision to proceed with veneers, preparatory steps will be taken at your next appointment. These involve Dr. Levine removing around a millimeter of enamel from the surface of the teeth to be covered by the veneers. Thereafter, an impression will be made of your teeth so that a top quality dental laboratory can fabricate the custom veneers customized to fit your teeth. In about 2 to 4 weeks, Dr. Levine will receive your veneers from the lab.
What happens during the procedure?
Dr. Levine will trim your veneers, if needed, to ensure a perfect fit over your teeth. A bonding cement is used to attach them. Then, a special light curing device is used to activate chemicals contained in the cement; in a few moments, the cement will harden and your veneers are in place.
Dr. Levine will want to see you again about two weeks later to make sure your veneers are properly placed and that you are satisfied with the results. It is important that you practice good oral hygiene to keep your veneers and your teeth in excellent shape.
For many people, veneers are a better choice than crowns or even braces. The porcelain is stain-resistant and suitable to gum tissue.
